Changing Archivelog Dest in Rac 10g rel2

    Greetings To All,

I have a question about changing the archivelog dest in 10gRac rel2. We have two node rac cluster. The database version is 10.2.0.1 and os is solaris 2.9. I want to change the archivelog destination for our environment. We are using ASM for database,Archivelog and for rman backups. I want to know how to change the archive log dest. We have currently two disk groups on ASM.One for database files and other for archivelog and rman backups. I am thinking of creating a new diskgroup specifically for archivelogs.I am not sure how to change the archivelog so that they will be stored in the new diskgroup.Any suggestion or help will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

I never tested this, but I think the general approach should work

    1. Create a new partition
    2. Add the new partition to the ASM database - Disk group
    3. Mount the disk group in ASM
    4. Change the location of Archive log.

This is my understanding.. never tested..
