How can I stop .aud files from generating.
We're running 10.2.0.2 RAC on Solaris 2.9 using GRID control.
I have a question about .aud audit files the instances are generating. Since our GRID CONTROL connects constantly we generate multiple .aud files in both the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/audit and the $ORACLE_BASE/admin/SID/adump directories.
We've put a script in place to clean these files out daily but is there a way to turn this feature off? Our system is generating thousands of these files a day!
I tried setting the parameter "audit_sys_operations" to FALSE and it didn't stop the system from generating these files. I even tried setting the "audit_file_dest" to /dev/null on a test RAC system (which I knew it wouldn't like ) and as suspected it wouldn't let me set it to that.
Any input would be appreciated!

do you have auditing turned on, is gc connecting as sysdba to the database?

I'm pretty sure it's connecting as sysdba, which is why all the .aud files are being generataed I would think, unless CRS is doing it?
I thought turning audit_sys_operations was turning off auditing?

connections to sysdba are always logged, the operations arent unless you have that turned on

So then there's no way to stop sysdba from being logged then. I guess I'll talk to the GRID guy who set that up. With the amount of times grid connects it's ridiculous.

Have your DBA's use system as your default login from 10g OEM instead of sys.
.
Also, stick the .aud files on your backup. You may want this information some day.
.
My 2 cents.

Grid (10g OEM) should be using the dbsnmp and NOT sys for metric collection.

I just dug a little deeper and found a custom script that connects every minute as sysdba about 10 times for EVERY database we have on each box. I talked to the other DBA that wrote it and he's going to change it to system instead.
Thanks for the answers guys, I still wish there was a way to turn this off.

Try hard to get what you like OR you will be forced to like what you get.
