    netbackup and rman

    Hi Backup Gurus

We are taking a cold backup using netbackup once a month and taking a regular incremental using rman and also archivelog backup using rman. In case of a recovery is it possible to sync the coldbackup with rman incremental and archivelogs? Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Yes you can, but why would you want to apply a month's worth of incremental backups during recovery?

Thanks for your reply. I am planning to change the scheme from cold backup to rman backup completely. Is it possible to retain 3 months worth of backups using rman? Our policy is to restore 3 months old data whenever customer requires it. What is the option to set for this? I would appreciate your answer.

Sure, with the appropriate retention policy and enough disk/tape storage. In addition, in your scenario, you'll definitely want to use a rman catalog.
