oracle patch 5049060

My OS is HPUX. while installing patch 5049060 for oracle 9i, received the following error:

The Oracle Home /oracle/app/product/9.2.0 is not registered with the Central Inventory. OPatch was not able to get details of the home from the inventory.

the inventory doesnt know about your oracle home, did you install it properly

Yes. I installed a Oracle patch in February. I did not get this message.
What do I have to do make the Inventory recognize my oracle home?
