    what can you do when a database crashes and dont have backup.

    No offence! Be prepared to pack up and have nice vacation until next assignment, if you are responsible for that. That all I can think... If anybody can offer better solution... I would be glad to know!

    What do you mean by "crashe" ? Datafile corrupted/lost? Control files corrupted ? Redo log corrupted ? Please specify. There may be a way to resolve this.
    Also, open a TAR with oracle immediately and someone will help you recovering the db.

    So, thats the solution I could think of for your single line Q. There are other solutions based on the details of the Q. Like Havin backup controlfile in trace and cloning the database etc.,
