Oracle Upgrading

Hi all,

I have 2 dbs both running on 8.1.7.2. There is a need to upgrade one to 9.2.0.7 and the other to 10g. The questions i have are:

1/ To ugrade from 8.1.7.2 to 10g does the 8i db have to be patched to the latest level: 8.1.7.4 before one can upgrade to 10g?

2/ Secondly, do the binaries for both 10g and 9i have to installed before the upgrade takes place?

3/ Is there any where i can get step by step guides to the upgrade process?

Both the 9i and 10g document sets include a 'Oracle Database Upgrade Guide' which answers 1,2 and 3...

Have a look at that, and if you have more queries, then ask again.

Thanks for that. The guide was very useful.I was looking for documention for upgrading from 8i to 10g. I havent found that anywhere. Any ideas?

whats wrong with the migrartion guide, it covers wht version you can upgrade from and how to do it
