    While running ./runInstaller the following message comes up :
    $ ./runInstaller

    Initializing Java Virtual Machine from ../stage/Components/oracle.swd.jre/1.1.8.0.1/1/DataFiles/Expanded/jre/hpunix/bin/jre. Please wait...
    ../stage/Components/oracle.swd.jre/1.1.8.0.1/1/DataFiles/Expanded/jre/hpunix/bin/jre[43]: /local/oracle/install/../stage/Components/oracle.swd.jre/1.1.8.0.1/1/DataFiles/Expanded/jre/hpunix/bin/../bin/PA_RISC/native_threads/jre: not found

    Does the OUI use the JRE installed on the system OR it looks like it is using the JRE which comes with the Oralce 8.1.6 installation

    HP System Configuration :

    HP OS : HP-UX B.11.00 E 9000

    Patches : installed all patches required

    JAVA installed: # swlist | grep -i java

    B9788AA 1.3.0.00 Java 2 SDK 1.3 for HP-UX (700/800
    ), PA1.1 + PA2.0 Add On

    Looks like the Oracle installer does not use the JRE installed on the system but uses the JRE which comes with the Oracle 8.1.6 installation :

    Since I haven't done an installation on HP, I don't know what was the exact cause of it. One of the things to check is the environment setup. Also check to see that you have enough temp space.

    Good luck.
