it was a fair answer, most of that is probably what you will be expected to do.

Just expect to do no dba work and have no repsonsibility

once they know the basics then responsibilty for a small internal database is sometimes a good idea, as long as they are given backup from a senior DBA.

by internal I mean a system that is just used in the IT area, then at least if it fubar no external customers are effected.

    hi

I am also a junior DBA.

I had done a project in a good mobile company.

Responsibilities may change from organization to organization.

I will explain you some responsibilities.

    1. Come in the early mornnig and check whether all databases are up.
    2. Monitor the alert log file and take actions if any errors found.

    3. Check the growth of database.

4.Take Full Database Export at frequent intervals like once in a week or fortnightly.

    5. Take Cold/Hot Backup at frequent intervals.

    6. Attending user calls and give a solution to their problems.

    7. Maintain a Log Activity Report and report the same to the Senior DBA.

8.Read some DBA books for one hour.

    Regards
