    Wheter we need to Coalesce Tablespace for LMT in 9i

    Hi,
    It is Oracle 9i the tablespace is LMT, extent management local uniform size 1MB, segment space management manual.

    Question
    ======
    1. Wheter we need to Coalesce the tablespaces..?
    2. If answer to point(1) is "YES", how to know which tablespace is a candidate for Coalesce.
    3. If answer to point(1) is "YES", is there any way we can estimate how long it will take for Coalesce for induvidual tablespace.

    Thanks..

    In the above site, I see the second script is there for Coalesce Tablespaces in Orcle 8i, 9i and 10g. If there is no need why they have put this script there..?

    2. Coalesce Tablespaces ( Oracle : 8i 9i 10g )

    There are many scripts on the web that are very generic. It just may be something that they put for 8i, 9i etc.

    In case of a LMT ( Uniform Extent ) the free extents which will be 1M in size are going to reused by oracle anyways at that size only. So there is really no need to think about coalescing.
