problem while installion oracle 9.2.0.4.0 on linux 9.0

hi
i am installing oracle 9.2.0.4.0 on red hat linux 9.0 while linking oracle 9i database at 82% system gets hangs/or very slow and dont go furthur . i tried three time and every time at 82 % it stops working

i configure all the kernel parameter as described in the os documentation of oracle 9i for linux
is there any specific reasion for hanging/slow working

P4 1.6MHz , 256 Ram
swap area 496

any suggestions

what instructions did you follow as 9i isnt a support release on Redhat 9

.. but i have already installed oracle 9.2 on linux 2.4-20-8 release 9 on another m/c the only difference between is that other m/s is p3 500mHz 256 Ram and this m/c is p4 1.6 GHz 256 Ram and that oracle is working fine . is ther any hardware compatibility b/t p3 and p4 . if there pl suggest
