triggers and refresh = materialized views

hey

i want to create a trigger instead of using refresh fast in a materialized view ... in order to create this trigger, i need to remove the refresh option --- would you do this with a refresh never ??

as my materialized view uses 27 live tables, would the creation of 27 triggers be a deteriorating fact in terms of performance ??

suggestions / help would be appreciated .
