    sys password

    Hi Friends,

    Agian and again ....i forgot password of sys as sysdba user.
    I tried all the options that is being done before like:

    1. add the user(administrator) to ora_dba group.
    2. change sys password using orapwd.
    3. sqlplus /nolog
    connect / as sysdba

    But still i cant login to the database.

    Any idea i miss out plss

    why do u use OS authentication if you have changed the sys (DB) password?

    Login as

    connect SYSTEM/password@mydb
    change SYS password (if system has privs on your db)

    conn sys/password@mydb as sysdba

    thanks ...but i forgot both system and sys password...
    what do i do now

    you log into the server with the person in the right group and use os authentication

    or try the basics. user sys=sys, change_on_install
    user system=manager

    My Question is how in the world could you forget the sys/system passwords :( Are we sure that you were not trying to break into the unbreakable Oracle

    Your funny of course not....i know my system password is just
    manager or manager$ or manager$$ and my sys password is just sys$ or sys$$ or sys$$$ ....i tried all but still i get invalid password,
    Dont worry dear...its just a test 10gR2 db

    if you *know* the password then why are you putting in the wrong one to get the invalid password message?

    Seems like a silly thing to do

    what i mean is....thats what i believe the password was..
    but it doesnt work....maybe i type it wrongly....and this is the first time I will be logging in to the database which i just created...and funny
    i cant enter into it with any default user i know.

    zexy, maybe there is another user u created a while back that you gave the dba role to. but if it doesnt work...well as you said its only a test db
