guide me for certification

I am a beginar in Oracle and thinking about certification. How important it is to have certification before I get into market? If at all I need to do it which one I should persue....9i or 10g. Please guide.

As i said I am brand new in this field and trying to pave my way from scratch. I appreciate your suggestion regarding certification.
I have a question in my mind. As I do not have a job in ttthis field so I do not have a real time exposer to the work and the actual skills required. Can you please guide me regarding the minimum skill I must have before I even think of a job and what all skills I should have to find and sustain a job.Please share your experience and help me in growing . Thanks .

people dont get dba jobs without experience, people usually fall into it from developer jobs - so try to find a junior developer position
