unable to connect / as sysdba
Hello,
I'm using a solaris9 machine with oracle9i SE installed. When i try to connect / as sysdba in sqlplus, the following error came out.
Error ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
How do I configure so that the machine accept connect / as sysdba to login to sqlplus? I login in as root.
Thank you.

Login as root(as you wish to) switch to Oracle user then you can do it.
"What is past is PROLOGUE"

wont work as root, touch luck there
-
the problem is, when I run an application, it will be using root and run some scripts and the script fails coz it will connect / as sysdba
is there anyway?
-
NO! it wont work as root, you will have to switch to another user or supply the username and password in the script
-
But even I login as oracle user, I can't connect / as sysdba
Really desperate, do you suggest reinstall oracle9i?
