unable to connect / as sysdba

    Hello,

I'm using a solaris9 machine with oracle9i SE installed. When i try to connect / as sysdba in sqlplus, the following error came out.

    Error ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

How do I configure so that the machine accept connect / as sysdba to login to sqlplus? I login in as root.

    Thank you.
    Keith

Login as root(as you wish to) switch to Oracle user then you can do it.

NO! it wont work as root, you will have to switch to another user or supply the username and password in the script

But even I login as oracle user, I can't connect / as sysdba

Really desperate, do you suggest reinstall oracle9i?
