Unhappy Automatically upload files from a remote location to the db

    Hello,

Am trying to create a database in oracle 10G and I want to load data to it from a map drive on the network.
I would appreciate some help as to how to get the data to load automatically as it gets updated every 20 mins. The file types are .txt and every 20 mins new text files are dumped in the folder which I need to get uploaded in the db at each interval so that queries can be run on them.

    Thks in advance ..

If the same file is overwritten (updated) use an external table.

Otherwise, you're going to need to write a script/program to loop through the files and upload them.

Be careful you don't upload a file that is being written to.

Why not have the program that's creating the .txt files, just insert the data directly?
