    hi friends,

    I need to upgrade some of our production databases from 8.1.5 to 8.1.6. Can anyone explain the best method? If possible sequence steps to be followed.

    Hi

    I am in the process of upgrading our databases from 8.0.5 to 8.1.6 (Sun). After the installation, I migrated the data manually by running the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/u0800050.sql script, which is much quicker than importing and exporting. Out of curiosity, what are the benefits of import/export as compared to just running the appropriate migration script? Starting to wonder if I am using the wrong method....

    I think you did right thing. I also upgraded the same and am doing fine with that and I hope it is quicker
