    Deleting Catalogs

    Hi,

I have a number of database instances running from which I want to delete some catalog components that I don't need any more.

Examples are: catexp7.sql, profload.sql, initxml.sql, and several others.

Although I could leave them as they are, some of them seem to slow down the initial sqlplus login a lot, especially the monitoring catalog functionalities.

Does anyone know whether there is an easy uninstall option for such a purpose?

    Thanks
    Peer

For some components, Oracle provides the scripts for "uninstalling" them - they might or might not be mentioned in the documentation, but with some detective work they can be spotted in $ORACLE_ADMIN. But for some of the components unfortunately there is no uninstallation scripts provided, and for those you have to remove them manually. And you better be 110% that you know exactly what you are doing!

For the three components that you mentioned as an example, I could find the uninstall script for the initxml.sql - it is called rmxml.sql. For the other two, I'm affraid you'll have to work manualy on them...

    Hi jmodic,

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping for something a little more easy, but there you go.

    Bye
