Do you have any logon triggers? Have you done a tracert on the host name/ip address? What version of Oracle are you using? What is a lot of time? Are you doing tracing on the listener?

At least send us the results of tnsping. That'll give us alot of useful information like whether you're using ldap or local names file.

Also, when you ping the server, what's the average round trip time?

It'll say something like "time=0.124 ms"

You'd like suggestions for fixing this problem to be sent to "HyTech Professionals Inc.", an Offshore Software Development Company with "... strong technical expertise in developing and implementing applications on Oracle, MS SQL Server, Sybase, MySQL, etc."? Is that right?

For bonus points, I like how their Web page shows the W3C "valid" logo but fails to validate.

    Bad Dave!

I've had Oracle employees ask questions on my forum in the past. I guess sometimes people new to the technology prefer to ask questions externally so they don't have to keep bugging their colleagues.

I'm not proud. I'll ask anyone. Even SlimDave

    Cheers

    Tim,

I can accept hiding his/her name by the original poster, but I cannot accept sending my reply to some web site.
