    statspack analysis

    We have been getting a lot of ora-04030-out of process memory errors lately.
    I installed statspack on our database that is 29 terabytes. I noticed a lot of pct misses in the dictionary cache, library cache, and latch activity.
    I am of the assumption that this is pointing to SGA problems. My boss seems to the think that it is PGA problems. Here is a copy of my report:

    What is the total RAM in the Server?

    Do you really need 88 GB cache?

    negative logical reads seems suspicious, no? I would try that again with a shorter duration, 'cos I wonder whether your numbers "wrapped round" in the 2 hour window you're using

    Thank you everyone for your replies.
    Now:

    Unix OS-HP-UX
    Total Ram: 128GB

    I am not sure about the 88GB of cache. What is that?

    Hi

    In the statspack report it says

    Cache Sizes (end)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Buffer Cache: 90,112M Std Block Size: 32K
    Shared Pool Size: 512M Log Buffer: 49,152K
    Buffer Cache is 90,112M or 90,112/1024=88Gb
    do you need that much amount of cache :-)
    regards
    Hrishy
