Thread: backuping up an Oracle 7.3.4.3 database with rman?

    Hi everyone,

    is this possible?

    I am in a strange situation in which I have 4 environments: 2 at Oracle 8.1.6.2 and the other two at Oracle 7.3.4.3. We are looking at creating a single point for backups and I was wondering if I could do this with rman or would I be stuck with both rman and OEBU.

    Environment is HP-UX 11

    I think Oracle 7.3.4 supports rman.

    I am not sure. I am have successfully reigstered and synced the Oracle8i databases but when it comes to the Oracle 7.3.4.3 databases I keep getting ora-01031 - insufficient privileges. I am attempting to connect as sys and system and I still get that error. Any suggestions?

    I think rman only works with 8.0 or above.
