performance issues and process delays
Every morning i get the complain from users, system is slow aplication is not refreshing the screens faster.......
when i checked the performance the hit ratios, and the I/O doing good.I noticed during the peak time particularly in the office beginning hours i find the reads on the physical disk is more. Below is the stats:
TBS Phy Reads Phy reads Log reads Hard parse CPU time PGAsize
apadm 125.97 10407 1.4 0 70 427,000
Also db file parallel read, controlfile sequential read,db file sequential read and db file scattered read are more and the cache hit ratio during these time are between 58% ~ 73%. Other wise the db performance are good with no much issues. concurrently no more than 60 users use the system.
Gurus where i need to tweak in so that i correct the above issue which is abt to get serious.
Thanks for the time...... ...........

Hi.
Load statspack and run snapshots through the busy period and check the statspack reports. This will tell you percisely what is going on.
http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/8i/Statspack8i.php
What's more, it will give you th worst performing SQL, which might help you sort your IO issues.
Cheers
Tim...

Do you shut down the database every night for a cold backup, or anything like that?
