There is a function in Designer for this (check the HELP), but whether it is workable depends on what version of Designer and version and features used in the server.
We gave up when we found that our version of Designer couldn't cope with index organized tables, bitmap indexes, partitions, materialized views and practically anything else invented after Oracle 6.

(Resolved) Reverse Engg. Schema Objects in Oracle Desginer Repository Owner

    Problem resolved.
Open Oracle9i Designer -> Click Design Editor

Select the workarea created, goto Server Model Diagram
In the menu option select Generate -> Capture Design Of -> Server Model

Enter the parameters and start the process (this will capture all objects from the target schema and store the same in the repository user).

    Save the diagram

Go back to Oracle9i Designer -> Select Entity Relationship Designer -> Create a New ERD (select the desired container)

Goto Utilities -> Table to Entry Retrofit -> Click Candidate Tables -> Select All the objects -> Click on Retrofit -> Click Close

Right click on the ER diagram page -> Include -> Entity -> Select All -> Ok

got it .. u r presented with the ER diagram ..
