What version of Oracle?

If NT - just use the Database Wizard to do it all for you :)

Do you want it just for test purposes. Then just allow oracle to create one for you.

oracle 8i , actually i need to find out as much info as ican i m a junior form develoepr using 2000, and need to perfom some duties as a dba and i have no clue about it. please help me . what are task how to perfrom them.

You can use an utility called Database Wizard. It was intalled on your machine when you installed the Oracle binaries. It will take you step by step through creating database and create and start necessary NT services.
