Minimum System requirements for 10G
Could someone tell me the minimim and recommended system/hardware (memory, disk space, etc....) requirements for Oracle 10G. I am in the process of building a server type machine at home to load Oracle 10G on for personal use and can't seem to find and good specs. Also if anyone has Oracle 10G loaded on a home system would you be able to share your memory and hard drive size and let me know how it works for you?

I have 1G of RAM on my home machine with 3x80G IDE drives and I had no problem installing.

Here's the guidelines for minimums Oracle Doc - prerequisites
Specific amounts would depend on alot of stuff, like;
Your OS.
Your speed requirements
Your throughput requirements
etc.
If you're just testing simple functionality, maybe 750mb ram and 1 gig disk will get you started.

256mb ram if you dont wanna use the OEM thingie (database Control)

The best precise figure you can get about this question is from technet.oracle.com
There is always User manual to install oracle on any kind of OS, you can get this Info from that Installation manual

At a minimum, read and follow the instructions. If you're too busy "b'in funky" (nice pick on the name), plug in your Bee Gee's 8 track and install away.
Not how I'd spend my weekend, but hey... U bfunky!

If you can't stand to read install guides or can't spare the 10 minutes it takes to read this one in particular, OUI will tell you if your system does not meet the minimum requirements.

I have installed it on Celeron 633 Mhz with 256MB ram on Xandros Linux.

Cool, but did it run? (just kidding...)
That configuration certainly wouldn't work if you chose a MSWIN OS (or SQL Server for that matter).
There really isn't that much difference in linux distributions.

While it might install on 256, I'd think it'd barely be usable until 512 and then only slowly. 1Gb is a reasonable practical minimum, I think.
