    Newbie

    Hello Everyone,
I am pretty much new to this forum, i have a question for all you DBA guys.
I have been working in tech support for over 5 years now, mostly in the DTP (OS 9, OS X, some Windows). I have been looking to change my job in few years in a different field. Recently I've been looking at Oracle/SQL DBA. What can you guys recommend as a starting point for someone with my experience? any feedback greatly apprieciated.

    Hell no!

Grow your hair, get some tattoos and join a R&R band.

Applications will come and go, programing languages will change, OS will become more stable. But data will always be needed and will be there and to manage data you need a DBA (being optimistic here). So yes its a good field.

And yes, Mr. Hanky is a genius. He is the official clown, mascot, and developer shooter of DBAsupport. Respect him and you will be left in peace.
