    how to avoid the full table scan?

    well, iam not so good in sql tunning,i need to tune the some queries, urgently.. can anybody pls tell me how to avoid the full table scan in sql query..
    what are hints are used to avoid the full table scan in query...i will be very grateful to him

    Just a note:
    Avoiding full table scans, sometimes, can lead to worse performance.
    There are three kinds of lies: Lies, damned lies, and benchmarks...
