data warehouse backup

Hi, everyone:

Our database is a data warehouse, about 1.7 tb.
The backup options are:
1. backup archive logs every night, and do cold backups every week.
2. Using RMAN to do incremental backup every day.

Which method would take longer to recovery the database if the baseline is the same?

Depends on the amount of redo generated. If the amount of redo generated is great, then you would be better off taking incremental cumulative backups every day. If the redo is very small (as in the case of DW where they don't get a lot of Update/Insert/Delete during the week) you would be better just applying the redo.
