i am not able to drop the following tablespace.

this tablespace has only one datafile, it so happened that the last extent that was allocated caused the datafile to grow from 7 gig to 9 gig.

now the problem is because of this huge datafile the database does not allow any kind of write operation to the objects of that tablespace.

    read access is fine though.

only option is to shudown abort the database.

i have worked around this and relocated all of the data to another tablespace and things are fine with the old tablespace offline.

how do i get rid of this tablespace without having to create a new database.

Oracle 7.3 workgroup server on NT 4.0.

Check any other rollback segments are created in the tablespace. If so, you need to drop those segments and then drop the tablespace.

Just a note to make sure...

If you drop the tablespace, you still need to go out and physically delete the associated datafiles, Oracle wouln't do this for you.
