Red face Checksum error in redo log block - log corruption

    Hi,

I am getting the following error while manually recovering my standby database....(ie. recover standby database)

ORA-00283: recovery session canceled due to errors
ORA-00368: checksum error in redo log block
    ORA-00353: log corruption near block 2049 change 5145844262 time 05/23/2005 13:55:47
    ORA-00334: archived log: '/arch/arch_2_18272.log'

    ORA-01112: media recovery not started

After this error occurs, i have delete the said archive log file from my standby db server and copied again from the production db even then i am getting the same error.

What could be the reason for this? How can i proceed with media recovery and put my standby db in sync with production db.

I searched so many sites, everybody suggests for creating standby db again...is this is the only way for correcting my problem?????

    Thanks & Regards
    Ramesh V

Is this the first time that you are applying arch logs to your standby db?
if yes, try copying the arch log file with timestamp preservation.
    i.e.
    rcp -pr HOSTNAME:/d1/ap1/data1/archl.dbf /d1/ap1/adata1/archl.dbf

if no, then maybe you don't have anymore clean copy of the arch log and that you need to recreate the standby db.

why u are copying the log files ,
    fal_server , fal_client parameter in init.ora will do it automatically for u.
