    Could some please tell me if I increase the value in memory while a batch job with many sql statements is executing, whether the remaining sql in the batch job will use the new value from memory?

    You could try the following test...

    Trace a session:

    Alter session set events '10046 trace name context forever, level 12';

    Run a long FTS etc.

    In another session

    alter system set db_file_multiblock_read_count =

    Then examine the trace file and see if there is a change to the p3 in scattered reads at the same time as you performed the alter system. i.e.

    WAIT #1: nam='db file scattered read' ela= 21993 p1=24 p2=115529 p3=128
