    missing archive logs on secondary

    Hi

    I have a standby database thats asking for a archived log thats not available on the primary.I dont have it stored anywhere this was a new standby database.

    alert log on the standby has
    Media Recovery Waiting for thread 1 seq# 6

    seq# 6 is not there on the primary ?

    should i recreate the secondary from the primary ?

    Have U created the standby db from the backup taken in the primary db taken long time back .
    U need all archive files after the backup .

    if u are not having archive files ,the create standy from recent primary backup

    when missing an archive log from primary db, then no other option but to recrete the standby db from new backup.

    One trick is that you need the archlogs that completely span the backup process. Being paranoid, I start with the one that was completed just before I started the backup.

    Random guess - may be you have an ancient standby controlfile that's causing this.

    Before trying to recreate the standby all over again..you may want to try creating a new standby controlfile and moving it across.

    Hi Folks

    It was a mistake on my part.The crux is the archivelog was backed up by me in a BMC 's Backtrack format.I then managed to extract the logfile on the primary server the FAL client was able to pull it and apply on the standby database.

    Had a busy day yesterday so couldnt update this thread.
