    e-commerce

    Hi Beloved Friends,

Our Company does not have e-commerce application yet. And we are
required to build one, so that customers can transact business with
us(on the web) wherever they are all over the world. I was task to
make capacity plan and recommend what resources to buy. We have a
bugdet of usd400K. So without much ado and thinking I have to
consult you if my ideas are sound I have a low self confidence
    u know

    Given:
500 maximum clients accessing on the Web (Internet) simultaneously
    Apps type = OLTP

    Recommendations:

    1 DB server IBM RS600 P520 5L,
    OracleDB 10g,
    100GB DISK,
    3GB RAM,
    2-way processor
    1 APPS server IBM RS600 P520 5L,
    Oracle 10g IAS,
    50GB DISK,
    6GB RAM,
    2-way processor
Jdeveloper to be used for the web apps, and inhouse training while
we develop the application(to be conducted by Oracle)

Are these resources enough already? Did I forget something important?

Does a 6GB RAM on the Apps server enough for the 500 clients?
Does a 3GB RAM on the DB server enough for the 500 clients?

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Ms C3

    Hunie,

    We will approx. have
    500 maximum concurrent users with
Oracle 10g Apps server using JDeveloper (In-house apps development).

I just heard that web based apps is memory intensive. Is 10Mb mem
    allocation enough for each user?

    Thanks again

    Hun,
I just need the average one, then I may add up a buffer like 30%.
We will just start a simple web apps, no complex process.
Would u know the average memory usage?

    Thanks

there is no average there is no normal, its purely a function of what work your application is doing and only you know that (or dont know)
