tuxedo web apps on Oracle 9i AIX

    Hi Friends,

We got a tuxedo web apps running against our 9i (9.2.0.1) DB on AIX.
We found out that most of the time when user quits the client web
apps, its corresponding process in the Database still remains,
even for days. So we have to shutdown the database every midnight
just to clean up the run-away process.
Im thinking of creating a script that will periodically kill the
run-away process on both the OS and DB sides. Can u help me pls how
to identify a defunct/runaway process on both?

    Thanks a lot

why dont you set profiles will idle time?

least they wont be taking any resources.

anyway looks for sessions which havent been active in ages and are inactive.

    thirdly - fix the app

    Thanks hun,

The apps just doing exit, I think it is a bug in 9i that it can't
    release/terminate and inactive/defunct process. I've seen a thread
here before that he tried to kill a certain runaway session but it
takes to long to take effect, maybe we got similar problem.
Has anyone exprienced killing sessions and it wont be killed?

    Thanks a lot

Ok, I'll recommend to the management the its the Apps that is causing
the problem(its an outsourced apps). that they have to properly close
what needs to be closed properly.
I'm just afraid if they will claim thay theres no problem in their
apps and its made perfectly. :(
