Oracle DBA Temp to Perm Rate

    Greetings,
I will like to know an approximate consulting hourly rate for a 5 year Oracle DBA on a 3 month Temp to Perm position. The consulting company provides health and other benefits and the position is in the Washington, DC area.

    Thanks for your help,
    Me.

Minimum $60/hr IMO. It'll be difficult to persuade someone that's decent for anything less than that.

PS : Post in the right forum the next time.

Sorry for posting in wrong area.. Do you want me to move it to the correct area? They were offering $40/hr but since I did not know much about contracting I am hesitant of leaving my current perm position for it. I guess I will go for $60 to be safe and quote DBA support as my source of information. Many thanks.

I kinda assumed that you were the one looking to hire someone! Not the other way around.

Since you're looking to get hired, it's purely *your* call. You ought to come up with an appropriate number for yourself. If you're a kicka$$ DBA, anything short of $100 / hr (for a short term gig) would be a crime. On the other hand, if you're just learning the ropes - $35 would be more appropriate. It depends on what you can sell yourself for..

PS : I just read someplace that DKB charges $500 / hour! There you go..

Well that'd be a short-term contract though. When a client wanted to put me on a yearly contract following a two-week placement, I quoted half of the original rate.

The cost of living is a little different in the civilized world than in Iowa. Mr.H pays more in car insurance every year than you did for your house!

I've charged $300/hr, but that was for small 2-3 hour jobs and that was in 2000.

To be fair though, Mr H does live in that Camaro.
