processes in unix vs. services in windoz
Hi beloved friends,
AIX 5L
Oracle 10g (and i have just applied 10.1.0.3).
Im confused which processes(services) i have to start first in AIX.
Unlike windows they are automated. I just identified the following
processes under AIX, which i create a script to start manually.
1. lsnrctl start
2. ompnctl start
3. ompnctl startproc ias-component=HTTP_Server
3. emctl start dbconsole
4. isqlplusctl start
5. (database startup)
Did i miss anything here? Do I have to start it in the right sequence?
I noticed also that since I installed the 10.1.0.3 patch, the
emctl start dbconsole took a very long time to complete like 15 min.
and I cant run it on the client web URL. I now got error now "THE
PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED". But my isqlplus and htmldb are fine.
I also noticed that when i issue ompnctl start, there is a process
that eats up 89% CPU utilization when i list my "ps aux". Is this
normal for this ompnctl proc?
Pls help....
Thanks a lot

Hi Friends,
I solved my problem on dbconsole by running:
$ emctl start agent

Hi again,
I am now trying to use web based (OEM) dbconsole to startup/shutdown
a remote database on aix 5L. I was asked to sign in the (O.S.) host
credentials. I entered the O.S. user "oracle" and its password.
But i got an error "NMO not setuid-root".
How do i setuid root the oracle id?
Thanks a lot

run root.sh, check permissions.
might've taken lesser time to look it up on metalink..
