Smile Oracle 10g Application Server Advice

Our company planning to use Oracle10 Application server for a new web applications. We are in the process of acquiring hardware for this. Our application server will be installed on 4 servers as fellows:

    1. on Front, 2 servers with WEB CACHE/J2EE (Sun V240, 1 cpu,2x73G , 8g RAM)
    2. one server Application Server (V440, Dual CPU,2x73Gb,8G Ram)
    3. Infrastructure on one server (V240, 1xcpu,4g Ram, 2x73G)
    4. Production Database on one server (V440 disk array of 10)

I have limited knowlede of hardware. Could you advice us

    1. Do we need mirroring on WEB CACHE server.
    2. Do we need mirroring on Infrastructure DB. It is small database.

    Thanks in advance.

how importing is it if it goes down?

if you cannot survive without it then you need mirroring, if you can survive while a rebuild / restore occurs then you don't.

BTW, an app server can continue to work if the infrastucture server goes down. You just cant make changes so high availability of the infrastature isnt as important as the database or front end for example
