    find primary for this secondary database

    Hi Folks

    I am into a new environment and there are over 5000+ databases..i have a database log which says unable to ship logs to secondary server.However this is a standby database.Database is called xxstdby .However i do not know whats the primary database for which xxstdby is the standby.How do i find it out ?

    connect to the standby db using dgmgrl
    and then show configuraiton will say the both primary and standby db

    Hi,
    You can check for parameter STANDBY_ARCHIVE_DEST, this is used only in managed recovery standby db.

    This parameter will tell you the location of the primary database.

    Also TARGET column of v$ARCHIVE_DEST table will give you standby and primary database information.
