errors while running root.sh during Oracle installation

Hi,

I was trying to install Oracle8i (8.1.7) on a Sun Solaris 9 machine. During the step to 'run root.sh as root user', I had the following errors. The system had Solaris 9 newly installed and I was executing root.sh as root user. Any ideas? Thank you very much.

Did you try to manually create the directories?

Hi gandolf989 and Jeff,

There is a link 'nsr' already under /usr/lib and I think it is causing the problem.

Jeff, actually I don't have to install Legato Storage Manager packages. Should I just answer 'n' for all 'Do you want to continue with the installation of ' questions while executing root.sh?

When installing the software through the GUI, make sure you uncheck "Legato Storage Manager" or whatever it is called. Then the root.sh script won't try to install that package.

Jeff,

I agree with you that it would work using the GUI.

However, I should mention that I have to do the installation in the silent-mode. Even I didn't include Legato Storage Manager for the DEPENDENCY_LIST parameter in the response file, the installer still tried to install it while calling the root.sh script. I guess I will try to answer 'n' during executing root.sh.
