I guess one could look at that exorbitant bill rate a number of ways.

If a client is willing to pay that much for his services a famous quote comes to mind "Theirs a sucker born every minute".

On the other hand one could say to themselves " Hell, if this (insert colorful adjective here) can get away with charging this much why can't I ?"

Then I guess you could look at it like I do.
He's taking advantage of people not only monetary wise but also delivering a bad product, which in my opinion reflects on all DBA's. We as DBA's should be looked upon as the most professional and trustworthy individual in the entire IT industry. Our actions or inactions could bankrupt a company /client. We have to instill in our employers that we have the utmost confidence and knowledge in what we do then prove it over and over again.

By having an individual in the DBA community who is giving the rest of us a bad name and is going to put us under extreme scrutiny by potential employers should be dealt with.

    edit: spelling thanks gandolf

How do you propose dealing with DBA's who make the entire DBA community look bad?

I guess one could look at that exurbanite bill rate a number of ways.

Keeping a straight face and a closed mouth -- those two things are the very essence of consultancy.
