    Hi Kris,

If I read your post before correctly, you have a colleague programmer who tried this (quote)
"The test program msdtcora.Exe works with success."

I am having problems with this with regards to Oracle 9i. The msdtcora.exe that I've found is only specified for Oracle 7/8. I keep getting errors, but don't know if this is because the test program is not compatible with Oracle 9i, or if there really is a problem with the Oracle config.
Would it be possible to get into contact with him/her?

    Regards
    Jakob Boivie

I think there might be a problem with our Oracle config, which is producing DB connection errors. We are running an application on Windows 2000 advanced server, using Oracle 9i as DB.
In order to verify this I was using the Oracle Test program for COM+ on Windows 2000, msdtcora.Exe from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q193893/. This one supposedly uses standard Oracle interfaces, not Microsoft DTC.

    However, since the readme says:
"This Oracle test program determines whether you can connect to your
Oracle7.3 or Oracle8 database using Oracle's XA facility.", I don't know whether the error I am getting is because the test program is not applicable to Oracle 9i, or if the problem is in the Oracle config itself?

In detail, the original error is "Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Failed to enlist on calling object's transaction, SQLSTATE=25000", which happens when the ODBC Driver Manager’s call to the ODBC driver fails. I have tried using Microsofts ODBC driver instead of Oracles, but to no success. Also tried changing transaction timeout on the MTS.

This is the error from msdtcora.exe:

    Calling LoadLibrary on xa73.dll.
    LoadLibrary on xa73.dll failed.

ok, 7.3 programs / libraries cannot connect to a 9i database.

That tool is worthless for your tests here. Whats wrong with trying with sqlplus or the odbc test tool?

    Sqlplus works fine.
