Oracle 10g & 9i on Fedora Core 1
Dear Friends,
We have currently one of our Oracle 10g databases running on Fedora Core 1. But We have a requirement to install Oracle 9i(9.2.0.4.0) on the same machine. Is it possible to install Oracle 9i without disturbing the existing Oracle 10g setup? I have seen from some of the documents that Oracle 9i on Fedora Core requires installation of JDK also. It even needs some relinking etc. So, will it disturb the running Oracle 10g database? Please help me.
Kind Regards,
Dileep T.V.R.

yes you can install both, You do know fedora is unsupported though?

Dear davey23uk,
Thanks for your reply. I know that Fedora is not recomended by either Oracle or Redhat. But we are using it as a test system. We will be using Redhat AS on production server. What are the measures that we need to take so that it will not affect the existing setup?
Kind Regards,
Dileep.

Dear davey23uk,
Thanks for your advice. I know that we have to install it onto a separate home. But, I wanted to know if any conflicts or any problems we face while installing the Oracle 9i onto existing setup which is running Oracle 10g.
Redards,

I have 1 server with all the following running (in 6 $ORACLE_HOME's)
RedHat EL 3.0
9.2.0.4 w/ iSQLPlus
9.2.0.5
9.2.0.6 w/ EM Agent
10.1.0.3 +ASM
10.1.0.3 EM Agent
10.1.0.3 EM (aka Grid Control)
Not a single conflict.

Dear KenEwald,
Thanks for your info. I'll try it on my system and will let u know if I'm unable to do so. I was worried because it is Fedora Core 1 and not Redhat AS/ES.
Regards,
Dileep.
