    Alert logs thro OEM

    Folks,
    Just want to know that can we access Alert logs thro OEM? database is on 9i rel 2. I have Oem console installed on my laptop, please advice me about how to go about this.

    You can certainly do this with 10g Grid Control (the 10g OEM). Never used 9i OEM, but Mr Hanky indicates that it's not a feature, so you could install 10g Grid Control and still have a 9ir2 repository db if this is must have functionality.

    you can set up the email so Oracle can capture any errors on the alert log and send it to you using OEM

    There is always AskTom!

    You could create an external table pointing to the alert log. This won't help you if the database is down, but if that happens someone needs direct access to the server.

    An OEM job that tails the alert log. I think you'll need a repository (OMS) for jobs and OS credentials on the server.

    tail -100 /u1/oracle/admin/FIDYCENTDB/bdump/alert_FIDYCENTDB.log
