working on 2 ora db 9i and 10g simultaneously
Dear Friends:
Need to know if 2 Oracle databases say 9i and 10g run simultaneously in win 2000.
First I had 9i installed in win 2000. Later I installed 10g in a different Oracle Home. But it has not created services in win 2000 for 10g installation. It has created services for 9i and it works perfectly.
When I install 10g separatly in win 2000 it works fine with services being defined automatically.
Any help would be appreciated.

yes they can live on the same server quite happily.
Did you create a new database for 10g?

No, I went for a custom installation of 10g with starter database into a different oracle home.
Thanks.

Yes has created the database. (size 898MB)
Thanks.

so whats the problem, can you stop and start it?

My 10g db does not start automatically. I don't find services meant for 10g in win2000.
Like I had mentioned before I have Oracle 9i db on the same system. That gets started automatically and I am able to work on 9i.
I want to know if I can start 10g db also simultaneously alongwith 9i so that I can connect to either one of them as required.
Hope I am clear.
Thanks.
