    Xml Db - 8.1.7.4

    Hi,

    I need to create xml db in an existing 8.1.7.4 DB. I am not sure whether xml db is available in 8i as I could not find much of information in documents. It looks it is available only from 9i.

    Could you please help me on this?

    XDB is only available in 9i, as is XML Datatype.

    Not to say you can't store XML in a VARCHAR2 and CLOB datatype in 8i though. You can, but the XML functionality in 8i is poor... oh and so is 9i if you're utilising heavy volumes.
