9i upgrade

Hello,

I am confused about 8.1.7 to 9i migration. I do not know whether to use upgrade assistant or import export. Can somebody suggest a good link or book? I am looking for all the details such as whn to change initialization parameters, file compatibilities etc ... Please help. I am confused.

Thanks for the reply. Can you also tell when a test upgrade should be planned ... How many fays bfore the actual production upgrade and what are the most important things to look for? On more qustion I had was whether to use import export or upgrade assistant ... and I also have a weird question .. should the upgrade be attempted from the machine where the cd is put? Can you throw some light?
