what do you mean by backup database?

I mean like a standby database in the IAS server. Please advice, thanks!

Hmmm, lets see if I can get you to answer your own question.....
You have a 9.2.0.4 database and you want to create a hot standby of it.
Hot standby definition: a duplicate database on another server (in recovery mode) that can be switched to be a fail over.
So, based off of the hot standby definition.. if you have a 9.2.0.4 database would a 9.0.1.4 database be a duplicate?
Oracle it's not just a database it's a lifestyle!

BTW....You need to get a girlfriend who's last name isn't .jpg

Hm.. version differences right? Ok, Thanks!

hi hunie,
u may wish to create a 2nd database 9.2.0.4 in your IAS sever with different oracle_home so that u can use it as standby. and similarly
another 9.0.1.4 duplicate database on the DB server.
