    Question

Hello guys, I am new to oracle. Lately, I have been hearing people talk about dazzity or dazzy(I'm not really sure about the spelling) I am wondering what that means?

P.S. I am running Oracle 8i on UNIX.

The correct term is DASD (pronounced dazz-dee)

which stands simply for Direct Access Storage Device

    Thanks Joe,
Since I am new to this field, can you tell me exactly what its purpose/importance is? If you have or any URL or documentation, can you please send it to me?

It just basically refers to disk storage devices like hard disks as opposed to tape/card systems and the like where you have serial access. Usually when people say DASD they are referring to some kind of disk array. There is no "documentation" - it's just a term to reference disk storage.
