did you do the export with 8.1.7 exp - if so you cant do that. Look at metalink note 1019280.102

You can do that yourself!, go to search and put that note in.
But I know your problem, you cant use 8.1.7 exp and then use it in 8.1.6. You will have to use the 8.1.6 exp on the 8.1.7 database

I have exported using 8.1.6. But not all my data is imported. I get warnings about existing objects

what imp command did you use - did you specify ignore=y?

I used ignore = N
then why the surprise when you get errors when objects already exist?
