Any known 8i/9i issues on HP-UX

    Hi all,

We are looking at upgrading our 8.1.7.4 databases to 9.2.0.5 on HP-UX.

Some of our users don't feel they are ready to go to 9i yet.
Are thereany known issues on having 8i and 9i running on the same server?

    Thanks

Since when do "USERS" have any say. Smack them around a little, then ask them what they know about Oracle. If they try to smartass you smack em again, then shoot a developer in front of them.
    Then ask the question again.

I bet you will get a different answer.

Friggin USERS!!, almost as bad as a developer.

USER is a 4 letter word, don't ever forget that!
I remember when this place was cool.

Mr. Hanky, you should create a database, then don't let any users or developers touch it. It will never break or have bad performance! Of course it won't be worth much either!

    Friggin' Hanky!!!

    Try it again!!

I feel like Belushi in Animal House, "what's all this lying around crap?, was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

Now that was a great movie!!!

DQuinn, there are a few issues when going from 8i to 9i. One such issue deals with trying to use set transaction commands with automatic undo, the simple answer is don't. But you should set up a 9i database, move over your data, point your application to it and run every piece of code you have on the 9i database. If you have a specific issue, then resolve it, either by using manual undo until you can take the set transaction statements out of your code as they are no longer needed.
